Colorado JUCO options

not much to choose from: all of them remote, small towns

If you look at JUCO’s with basketball in Colorado, the options are limited. But that doesn’t mean none of these would work for you - you’d have to do the usual due diligence: 

• research each school: what programs/degrees are offered - this is the first thing you should look into: if you can’t study what you want, it can’t work for you
• research the school: what is the culture, the stated mission, how does it feel
• consider how much you’d like the location, being part of a small school, etc
• research the city: what’s the demographic, the political climate, access to quality health care
• research the city: how would you spend your spare time; is a small town the right fit for you?
• visit the schools you think might work 
• will credits from their two-year programs transfer to a 4-year school? keep these options open!

All of these are part of the Scenic West Athletic Conference or the Colorado Community College Athletic Conference, both of which are part of the NJCAA. From this NJCAA search engine, with filtering for Colorado and Men’s Basketball, we have these five schools, all of which are NJCAA Division I:

• Colorado Northwestern, in Rangely - Rangely is population 2,300 as of the 2020 census. Colorado NW also has a campus in Craig, population 9,000. Both campuses are in the northwestern corner of Colorado.
• Lamar Community College in Lamar - population 8,000 as of 2020; southeastern Colorado
• Northeastern Junior College in Sterling  - population 14,000 as of 2020; northeast Colorado
• Otero Junior College in La Junta - population 7,300 as of 2020; south central Colorado
• Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad  - population 8,000 as of 2020; south central Colorado
